Second Chance

The snake is one of the reasons for why Adam and Chava sinned. I have previously learned that another reason for why Adam and Chava were punished was because of the folllowing: when God asked them why they ate from the tree, they both blamed it on eachother: Adam blamed it on Chava and Chava blamed it on the snake.
When Kain sinned, by killing his brother, God also gave him a second chance by asking him where Hevel is. There, God wanted to give Chain a chance to tell God what he had done, and repent, but since his answer was that he didnt know, God decided to punish him.
From these things we can learn that from the beginning, God gave the sinners (Kain, Adam and Chava) a chance to repent, but they unfortunately failed.

  1. This is really interesting. G-d gave them second chances and they blew it. When I read your post I began to think about the consequences of Adam and Chava's actions. If they had repented and there was no need of a second chance, would G-d still have "punished them?" And because the punishment was actually a good thing, would it have been bad if they had repented and G-d didn't punish them? Where would we be? what would life be like?

I'm about to go off on a tangent, but what if adam and chava hadn't ever sinned? I read somewhere that if they had just lasted until shabbos, they would have gone into their perfect forms or something. It's interesting to think about what could have been as opposed to what is, and whether or not we would have been happy living the way they were...

Zahava, zou also brought na interesting idea. I just wanted to ask: werent tey already perfect beings? and if they werent why would thez have to wait until saturday to become perfect beings?
And i too wonder what our world would be like if we were in Gan Eden and God wouldnt have punished Adam and Chava.
